Bergamot

80% of the world's bergamot oranges are grown in the region of Calabria in Italy.

A modern gentleman’s favorite essential oil is bergamot, which gives his Earl Grey and Lady Grey teas a subtle citrus flavor.

Essence of bergamot is harvested from the fruit’s skin, and the rest is discarded as inedible. Such lack of economy proves it is an extravagance befitting a modern gentleman.

I love this post. I’ve been involved with agriculture and produce my whole life, AND enjoyed a great deal of Earl Grey- but I had no idea what bergamot was till today. How delightful. -kate
